The Tree in Winter

Many times, I really wonder how?
Do trees survive the passing challenges and bow
To nature's ever changing and challenging clime
And stand firm upon the ground for long, long time!

Amidst the biting coldness of winter winds
The trees exposed vulnerable yet wins
Against the frosts, or threats of impending snow
To be firm and warm in the company of birds, even a crow!

There is beauty in the absence of their leaves!
Consider the twigs that cling and never leave
Because they understand the coming and going is just a part
Of their existence and enjoy the coming, staying then depart.

I really admire the strengths in trees
Their ability to dance full of glees
But never complains but perhaps for human greed
Where helpless trees are cut yet holding not to bleed.

Sadly, this tree photographed in the winter of 2008 has never seen the glorious spring in 2009. It still stands exactly the same as it was photographed before. I never thought that the winter of 2008 is its last winter. Whatever happened to this tree after I wrote this poem about it is a mystery! I am glad that I wrote this poem before its demise!
